We carefully amplify the signal to improve clarity and bring the sound back to a more natural level, without distorting it.
-
Our video files are provided as high quality .MP4 files as standard (the most compatible format), so you can take them anywhere and load them on any device.
PROFESSIONAL ADD-ON SERVICES
-
$10 per tape
Video tapes often come with unwanted hissing and humming that can be a real distraction.
Our service reduces as much of that noise as possible while keeping everything else intact, so you can focus on the moments that matter, not the background buzz.
-
$10 per tape
Older TVs didn’t show the entire video frame, leaving black borders around the footage. Now, with larger, high-resolution screens, those borders are visible and can look messy.
If you want a cleaner, more polished video, this service is for you.
-
$10 per tape
Over time, video tapes naturally degrade, causing the picture to fade. An unfortunate process known as “Tape Decay.”
We use specialized techniques to restore some of that lost clarity and bring your memories back to life.
-
$10 per disc
Had your media transferred to DVD elsewhere? Chances are, your footage wasn’t trimmed, meaning you’ve got a lot of blank space at the end (and maybe at the start, too).
With this add-on service, we’ll clean that up for you, removing the empty sections so you’re left with only the moments that matter.
-
$10 per splice
If your tape or reel has snapped and just needs splicing back together, the doctor is in!
-
$30 per tape
For more major repairs like rehousing or re-spooling your tape, this is our most comprehensive repair service.
-
If the audio on your tape needs more TLC than just equalization, our experts are here to work their magic.
With decades of experience, we’ll bring clarity, warmth, and life back to your tapes making them sound their absolute best.
See our Audio Restoration page for pricing
-
All our orders come with a free download and sharing link, but if you’d like to add a USB drive to your order, we can get the right size for the media you have.
Our prices start at $12 and we can let you know how large a drive you’ll need.
“I was visiting family in Westport and we found a whole bunch of video tapes of home movies from the 90's.
We had 10 tapes picked up on Tuesday, then transferred and dropped back to us on Friday! Everything turned out so great!
We got files and a download link that we were able to share with the rest of the family across the country, and now everyone is posting funny clips of us all as kids in the family group chat.”

Do you provide video tape transfer service near me?

We offer complimentary pickup and delivery throughout our service area, making professional video tape transfer convenient no matter where you are!
What file format will my digitized videos be in?

We also provide a complimentary download link for 30 days and can deliver files on USB drive for an additional fee. Premium transfers can be delivered as Pro-Res files for professional editing needs.
Can you repair damaged tapes?
Yes. We can usually repair damaged, broken, or chewed tapes and even rehouse them if needed.
If the tape is stuck in the VCR we can usually remove that too.
Do you charge for blank tapes?
No. If a tape is totally blank, we don’t charge.
Can you improve the quality of my video tapes?
Yes - with our Premium Transfer service we have the ability to correct for the color fading that tends to occur over the years on video tapes, adjust the brightness/contrast/color curves and improve the audio clarity.
I watched my tape on my VCR and it looks really bad. Is there anything that can be done?
Sometimes. We use professional equipment with stabilization and noise reduction, which helps a lot. But if the tape is too far gone, results may be limited. We’ll give you a realistic assessment.
Sometimes it just needs to be played back on a different machine and we have a few different kinds we can use to get the best possible quality.
My tapes have mold on them. Can you still transfer them?
Yes. We clean moldy tapes before transfer to protect our gear and improve playback. There’s a small extra charge for this, usually $10-20 depending on how much mold is on the tape.
I don’t know what’s on my tapes. Can I view them first and choose which ones I want?
We do not have a preview service, but if there’s something you specifically don’t want, like TV shows or movies, we can make a note to keep tapes of that nature aside, or not record that footage if it’s on tapes with something you do want.
I have old movies on video tape. Can you transfer them for me?
Unfortunately, we cannot transfer copyrighted video material unless you are the copyright holder.
Why Transfer My Old Video Tapes to Digital Now?
Most families have at least a few old video tapes sitting around - maybe some VHS tapes from the kids' birthday parties, 8mm camcorder tapes from vacations, or MiniDV tapes from when digital camcorders became affordable.
The problem is, you probably don't have anything to play them on anymore, and if you do, it means finding all the right cables, adapters, etc to get everything plugged into the new style of TV.
Your Tapes Are Slowly Dying
Magnetic tape doesn't last forever. Every year that goes by, your VHS tapes lose a little bit of their picture and sound quality. 8mm tapes can develop dropouts where parts of the video just disappear. Even MiniDV, which was supposed to be the digital “solution”, still relies on magnetic tape that degrades over time.
Temperature changes, humidity, and just plain age all work against your tapes. That wedding video from 1995 might look fine sitting on the shelf, but try playing it and you might find the colors have shifted, the picture is fuzzy, or worse - some parts won't play at all.
Sharing Made Simple (Finally!)
Remember how impossible it used to be to share your home movies? You'd have to invite everyone over just to watch that vacation footage, or try to make copies that always looked terrible. Converting to digital changes everything.
Once your VHS tapes and camcorder footage become digital files, you can send them to anyone instantly. Your kids away at college can watch that embarrassing Christmas morning video. Grandparents across the country can see the soccer game they missed. No more "you had to be there" - now everyone can be there.
Watch Like Netflix, But It's Your Family
Here's where things get really cool. New services are popping up that let you stream your own home movies just like you'd watch Netflix. Companies like Projector are making it super easy to upload your digital files and then watch them on any TV in your house with just a few clicks on your remote.
Think about it - instead of digging through boxes to find that one tape, you just scroll through your family's personal streaming library. Want to watch your kid's first birthday? It's right there next to their high school graduation. All your 8mm camcorder tapes of camping trips organized by year, ready to play instantly.
Your whole family can access the same collection from their own homes too. It's like having your own private streaming service filled with people you care about.
Getting More from Your Home Movies
When we convert your video tapes to digital, we're not just making them playable again. We're actually improving them in ways you might not expect. VHS tapes, especially older ones, often have audio levels that are too quiet. We can boost that sound so you can actually hear what people are saying.
Those old tapes from the 90s might have been great quality for their time, but they look pretty rough on today's big screen TVs. Our transfer process can clean up some of that roughness and make your old footage look as good as it possibly can on modern displays.
Ready for Whatever Comes Next
Digital files don't degrade like tapes do. Twenty years from now, that file will look exactly the same as it does today. And as new sharing technologies come out, your files will be ready for them.
Whether you've got a single precious VHS-C tape from your child's first steps or boxes full of 8mm camcorder tape footage, the time to preserve them is now, while they still play properly. Tomorrow's technology will thank you for making files that are ready for whatever comes next.
