Transform Your 35mm Slides to Digital in Fairfield County, CT

Transfer 35mm slides to digital with free pickup and delivery — from 79¢ per slide.

Looking to convert your 35mm slides to digital? We specialize in transferring 35mm slides to digital files using professional Nikon SuperCoolScan equipment that captures every bit of detail and color your slides contain. Whether your collection is Kodachrome, Ektachrome, or any other 35mm slide film, we handle each one with care to preserve those memories properly.

Here's what makes us different: we're the only local company using dedicated slide scanning equipment instead of flatbed scanners.

Most services use flatbeds because they're cheaper and can handle multiple formats, but there's a quality tradeoff. Flatbed scanners put a sheet of glass between the sensor and your slide, which softens the image and reduces sharpness.

Our Nikon SuperCoolScan 5000ED sends light directly through your slide without any barriers, using specialized LED lighting and optics designed specifically for film. The result? Sharper details, more accurate colors, and better overall quality than any flatbed can deliver. Plus, it includes Digital ICE technology that automatically removes dust and scratches during scanning.

We serve families throughout Fairfield County and New Haven County with free pickup and delivery, making the whole process hassle-free. Just outside our service area? We offer mail-in services too, so you can get your 35mm slides digitized from anywhere. Starting at 79¢ per slide with bulk discounts for larger projects, we'll transform your entire collection into high-quality digital files you can view on any device, share with family, and keep safe forever.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

  • 35mm Slide Scans at 2000dpi, 3000dpi or 4000dpi depending on your needs.

Think of it as good/better/best resolution.

2000dpi is best for those that want to save the most money but still get great scans, 4000dpi is best for archiving/image manipulation/printing, and 3000dpi is a great middle ground.

  • All of your 35mm slides are blasted with compressed air to remove as much surface dust as possible before we scan them.

Once they’re scanned, our high tech scanners use a technology called Digital ICE to remove any of the tiny particles that have become embedded over the years.

  • If you have boxes of 35mm Slides that have labels or carousels that have the titles written on them, we’ll transfer those titles to the digital folders containing your scanned images, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Got dates on your boxes/groups? We’ll sort everything into chronological order for you.

  • A free 30-day, unlimited download and sharing link (up to 100GB in size)

All of our 35mm Slide Scanning orders come with a free download and sharing link so you can share your memories with as many family members and friends as you like.

Need longer than 30 days? We can store your files indefinitely for just $5 a month.

  • Our 35mm Slide image files are provided as high quality JPEG files as standard (the most compatible format), so you can take them anywhere and load them on any device.

  • We crop every slide scan down to the image area itself, ensuring a clean final image file.

We also make sure that every image is rotated and oriented the correct way.

ADD-ON SERVICES

  • All our 35mm Slide Scanning orders come with a free download and sharing link, but if you’d like to add a USB drive to your order, we can get the right size for the media you have.

Our prices start at $15 and we can let you know how large a drive you’ll need.

We can also put your files on a 100-year archival Data DVDs for $15 per 4.5GB of files (or per disc if special organization required). A great option to store away in a safety deposit box for safekeeping.

  • 25¢ per scan

If you need the best possible quality from your scans, we can scan your slides as TIFF files, giving you the most digital information in your images.

  • 25¢ per image

We’ll adjust color balance, levels, brightness, contrasting, etc to bring life back to faded images.

  • $49 per 1000 slides

Want to show off your newly digital images as a slideshow? Our most basic slideshow shows each image for 5 seconds and fades into the next.

Perfect for putting on loop on your TV at family gatherings.

If you’d like to go all out and add music, titles and more, head over to our Slideshows page for more details.

  • We often see 35mm slides that have some color balancing needs or might need some extra TLC.

Our work starts at $50 per 30 mins of technician time (most jobs can be completed in this time). But since every restoration job is different, we’ll give you an estimate before we start and keep in contact with you if we feel like it could use more attention.

Head over to our Photo Restoration page for more information.

What are 35mm Slides and How Can I Identify Them?

35mm slides are small transparencies mounted in 2-inch by 2-inch frames, though the actual image area inside is about 24mm x 36mm (roughly 1 inch by 1.5 inches). When you hold one up to the light, you can see the actual photograph captured on the film - that's why they're also called transparencies or positives.

The film format is technically called "135 format," which is the same type of film that was used in regular 35mm cameras. The difference is that slide film produced a positive image you could view directly, while negative film (what most people used for prints) produced an orange negative that had to be printed to see the actual photo.

How to identify 35mm slides:

The mount size is 2 inches square, but that's true for other slide formats too (like 126 and 110). What makes 35mm slides distinctive is the image area inside - it's a rectangle about 24mm x 36mm (roughly 1 inch by 1.5 inches). If you hold the slide up to light, 35mm slides show a horizontal rectangular image that takes up most of the mount space.

In comparison, 126 slides have a square image area (much smaller), and 110 slides have a tiny rectangular image. So if you're looking at a 2x2 mount with a fairly large horizontal rectangle filling most of it, that's a 35mm slide.

The mounts came in different types over the years:

  • Cardboard mounts: Most common, especially in the 50s through 70s. Usually white or tan colored.

  • Plastic mounts: Became popular in the 70s and 80s. Often have the film brand name printed on them (Kodak, Fuji, etc.).

  • Metal mounts: Used for slide projector magazines.

  • Glass mounts: Used for slides that needed extra protection. The film is sandwiched between two thin pieces of glass.

Many slides have information printed or written on the mount - dates, location notes, or the film type (like "Kodachrome" or "Ektachrome"). This can help you figure out roughly when they were taken and what kind of film was used.
